Wall Street

We had planned to go to the Statue of Liberty first thing, but decided to come back later in the day when the fog had lifted. So we started walking, heading towards Wall St. There’s a famous statue of a bull near Wall St (on Broadway), and the kids had some fun with that.

Across the road from the Bull was this letterbox. It even beeps with R2D2 noises when you post a letter!

The New York Stock Exchange is located on Wall St (of course). Since 9/11, it has been closed to the public, and was also closed for renovations the last time Liz and I were in NYC (in Feb 1995).

Across the road from the NYSE is Federal Hall, one of the original buildings of government before Washington was decided as capital and built. On this spot (well inside the building, but on this exact stone) George Washington took the oath to become the first President of the USA.
