First stop after getting off the ferry was Battery Park, on the southern tip of Manhattan. This is a very touristy area (it’s where the ferries leave for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island), and we just HAD to get photos of the kids with these street performers. The girls were really into it, but I think Sam wished he was elsewhere.
Battery Park is also big on memorials (as is the whole city and the more I think about it, the whole country). The Eagle is a memorial for those in the Armed Services an the sphere is a relic which originally stood in the World Trade Center foyer as a symbol of peace (note the eternal flame in front of the globe).
