Tomorrow is Columbus Day, a public holiday celebrating the “discovery” of America by Columbus. It is celebrate in NYC by displaying the Italian flag colours of red, white and green (the Empire State Building has been lit in these colours at night over the weekend).
Here we spotted a fire boat off Battery Park shooting water in these three colours in celebration.
Tomorrow there is a big parade down 5th Avenue which we are told will cause traffic chaos.
