It is a competition which engenders cooperation and creativity. They were set a problem (saving the Earth) and had to come up with a skit of about 8 minutes that demonstrated a solution to the problem. Minimal parental interference is allowed and everything needs to be documented. They also have to design and build their own props on a very limited budget.
Today was the culmination as they performed in front of a group of judges.

After the performance, the officials come forward and question the kids on their performance and try to determine how much parental inteference was involved ...

Following this, they also have to do something spontaneous (a bit like theatre sports). Only 5 could be involved, so Ali and Sam opted out to let the others have a go.
Later that night, we found out the result. Out of 18 teams, they finished 3rd which was fantastic given this was their first time working together and some of the teams they were competing against had been doing this for 4 or 5 years. It's a pity we won't be around next year for Sam to compete again.
