The submarine ride had been shut for about 10 years before this year while they decided what they would replace it with. It's now basically the same ride, but with 21st century technology and we get to follow along the story with Nemo and friends.
This ride has become legendary because of its queue. Within 10 minutes of early opening time, the queue blows out to two hours and stays there all day. And no Fastpass.
Gemma really wanted to do it (as did all kids under 7), so she and Liz waited, while the rest of us went and rode several other rides - Star Tours (twice) - a Star Wars motion simulator which has lost none of its charm over twenty years, Thunder Mountain (another roller coaster), and Pirates of the Carribean, which has also had a make over as a result of the films and now includes Captain Jack.
Finally it was time, and we returned like prodigal children (this is considered perfectly acceptable behaviour for this ride - it encourages people to spend money while family members wait in line). By this time, Liz and Gemma had shared life stories with neighbouring people in line.
They even have seagulls there with the Mine! Mine! Mine! cry going out regularly.
Was it worth it? A big resounding YES from Gemma.
