This Meerkat was the lookout for his colony while the rest ate. We were fortunate to hear a talk about them and learnt about their community spirit. The lookout is regularly replaced.
We saw flamingoes both here and at Sea World. Looks like they learn to do the balancing on one leg trick from a young age.
At lunch time, we found some shade and watched an elephant show. It was more a demonstration of the strength and agility of a couple of elephants, interspersed with some really bad jokes from the keepers
The Gorillas are always worth seeing. I think they had the last laugh on us today, as they lounged around in the shade, while all us humans trekked around in the warm sun all of the day.
