The last couple of months have been extremely wet in the DC area and we have suffered many tropical storms, with several being predicted for tonight (and we had lawn tickets for tonight). While we did feel the odd spots throughout the night, we never got wet and got a spectacular outdoor light show to almost match the indoor show.
We wait with anticipation with Mark's steel guitar teasing us on the stage.
Finally, the show was on. He had some of Dire Straits with him, and they mixed in Dire Straits tunes (Romeo and Juliet, Telegraph Road, So Far Away, Sultans of Swing, Brother in Arms, Tunnel of Love) with tunes from both his newer stuff, and finishing off predictably enough with "Going Home". He sounded just as good (both vocally and musically) as he did last time I heard him play at Footy Park in early 1986. It struck me again how structured his music is with an introduction, main body telling a story leading to a climax.
