Paddling the Basin

Back to the Tidal basin again today, this time for a paddle boat ride with Nanny and Roger. It's a fantastic setting, with the Jefferson Memorial on one side, the Washington Monument ever present above the trees on the other side, and completely surrounded with Japanese Cherry Trees, no longer in blossom, but in full green bloom.

The weather was sunny and warm, and the crowds were elsewhere. We had a great time.

National airport is nearby. When taking off from the north, the planes have to do an immediate left turn to avoid flying over the White House. Here you can see a plane appearing over the Jefferson Memorial.

You can see the large statue of Thomas Jefferson through the pillars.

This friendly duck was hanging around looking for food.

Time to head back to dock.
