The Franklin Institute is so much more than the special exhibits. We spent a couple of hours at King Tut, and then spent another four hours exploring the rest of the exhibits. It is mostly handson and aimed at kids 5-15.One of the kid's favourites was a three-storey high model of the human heart, where you walk through the path that blood takes, including the diversion to the lungs.
The Aerodynamics Display was a big hit with the kids. They took turns at trying to live up to their name and learning about angle of attack with wind in a 40mph wind.
They then decided to see what it was like to sit in the cockpit of a Phantom. Much easier work.
There's also one of the original Wright Flyers (THE original sits in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in DC). Lots of Philadelphia is all about being better than DC!
The Franklin Institute was a really interesting place. The girls were totally entranced.
