Annapolis, a town of only 70,000 residents, is the capital of Maryland. And so when in Annapolis, the first place to visit is the Capitol.
It's here that George Washington resigned his commission to return to farmering for a few years before becoming the first president of the United States of America.
The flag here indicates that initially the Union consisted of 13 states.
The boat here is a full-size replica of a boat given to George Washington.
And on top of all of this, the State Parliament of Maryland meets here for a few days each year to do what all good legislatures do.
