Day 2 of our Pennsylvania Odyssey lead us to Lancaster County, the home of the Amish (and other similar cultures). They live a relatively simple life, with no electricity or cars. But they do use propane for refrigeration and diesel for some of their machinery.
An essential part of the visit is a buggy ride. An elderly Amish gentleman took us for a ride in this buggy and told us all about their lifestyle. The kids leave school after Year 6 to work on the farms (they have their own special school), and the have local church in their houses.
