Memorial Day Weekend

The last Monday in May is Memorial Day, a public holiday, and the traditional start of summer. And one of the traditions is a BBQ. Tonight we were invited down the street to a neighbourhood BBQ with about a dozen families.

The weather was OK to start with, but it went south quickly as a storm blew through for a bout 15 minutes with thunder and lightning. So we packed into the garage while the storm blew through (and the kids ran about in the rain - just one big sprinkler - you can see that Alyssa certainly enjoyed it).

Different to an Aussie BBQ as it was mostly the women who did the cooking.

One of our neighbours recently visited Adelaide on business (to my place of work - how small can the world get!) and so his son decided to wear his Australia T-Shirt to the BBQ, while Sam was wearing his Redskins T-Shirt.

We had a great time and it was a good chance to actually talk to some of our neighbours who up to now we had just waved at as we drove by.
