ROAD TRIP!
Over the last 16 days, we drove 3541 miles, through 12 states, 1 district and 5 provinces.
Highlights of our trip were:
Niagara Falls, behind it, above it and in it (well, the mist anyway).
Catching up with Debbie, Sara and Victoria near Toronto
Seeing Parliament and the Changing of the Guard in Ottawa
Visiting the site of the 1976 Olympics in Montreal (although they wouldn't let us swim in the pool :()
Spending 3 nights with Laura, a friend from Deer Valley days in Vermont, going Paddle Boating and Kayaking and Swimming and just enjoying Vermont.
Visiting Acadia National Park and visiting Cadillac Mountain, the first part of the USA to see the sun each day.
Prince Edward Island - doing the whole Green Gables and Avonlea thing for two days
Watching the tidal bore and reversing falls in New Brunswick.
Seeing Finback whales (the second largest after the blue whales) from a Zodiac in the Bay of Fundy off St Andrews in New Brunswick.
Climbing the Monument on Bunker Hill (294 steps), seeing the USS Constitution and Cannis Young, and the birthplace, homes and crypts of John Adams and John Quincy Adams in Boston.
Seeing Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II in Plymouth.
Driving directly from Plymouth Ma, to Alexandria VA in just over 9 hours, with only minor traffic delays, including driving through the Bronx!
Our car performed admirably with no problems for this tremendous trip. The portable DVD player also played for hours on end and the GPS put up with our navigational misunderstandings and still found our accommodations each night.
The kids have now been to 18 states on the USA and 5 provinces in Canada.
I promise to post further details and the odd photo if and when time permits!
