Today we went back to Mt Vernon in celebration of President's Day (as we did last year). Entrance was free as it was last year.
But this year the crowds were a lot bigger. It took us an hour to get there, even though we live less than 4 miles away. The traffic was unbelievable
The reason for the crowds was the weather. Take a look at the clothes the kids are wearing (especially admire Alyssa's new SUMMER outfit). When we arrived today, the temperature was 72F (22C). In the middle of February. Last year, the temps were below zero, and there was snow around. We were wearing ski jackets. Winter still hasn't really arrived yet here.
After watching the kids favourite movie (in the snow theater, where one of the special effects is real snow falling - only way to see snow today!), we went to the house and watched the parade, including an appearance by the big man himself (and Martha of course).
After the parade, we went around to the front of the house and got this last photo. Notice the clouds? Within 30 minutes, the wind had come up, it was pouring and the temp had dropped 30 degrees (and is now another 15 lower).
