An Anniversary

One year ago today, we arrived in the United States for our adventure/odyssey. In some ways the time has really flown. There is still a whole host of things we want to do before we return home at the end of the year. And January has just flown by. Our life in Australia seems distant in so many ways.

Today, Alyssa, Sam and I went to Mt Vernon where they are currently running tours of the basement of Mt Vernon where a crucial scene of the National Treasure movie was shot. Unfortunately they wouldn't let us photograph the basement, so here are the kids at the entrance to the basement as well as in front of the famous house.

The cornerstone with the LW engraving is certainly there, but nothing on it would move when we tried. The party scene and the river scenes in the movie were all shot locally, but the inside shots were done on a reconstructed set somewhere in Hollywood.
